FEB. 14: Valentines Day AND PJ Day

posted Feb 13, 2017, 3:03 PM by Rosanne Popp   [ updated Feb 13, 2017, 3:04 PM ]

Feb. 14 is not only Valentine's Day, it's also PJ DAY at St. Mary School!

This Spirit Day is brought to you by our WE Schools team.

Please consider bringing in a loonie or a toonie to support our WE team's fundraising efforts, in support of initiatives to provide clean water and food security to countries that lack these basic needs.

NATIONAL SWEATER DAY THURS. FEB. 2

posted Jan 30, 2017, 8:03 AM by Rosanne Popp

The St. Mary GreenTeam invites staff and students to have fun and save energy by wearing a sweater on Thursday, February 2. Wear your favourite or your wackiest sweater, as we turn down the heat a few degrees at the school. National Sweater Day is a fun way to learn about the importance of saving energy and to inspire everyone to use less heat all winter.  If all Canadians lowered their thermostats by just 2 degrees Celsius this winter, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 4 megatons – that’s equivalent to shutting down a 600 mega watt coal-fired power station or taking nearly 700,000 cars off the road!

Spirit Day on Friday: Book Character Dress-Up Day

posted Jan 22, 2017, 5:41 PM by Rosanne Popp

In celebration of National Family Literacy Day this FridayJanuary 27th, the students will be invited to dress as their favourite character from a book. This spirit day will also support our WE Schools initiative as we are asking for a $1/$2 donation  to support projects that increase food production and safe water supplies in Kenya.
As it's a regular school day on Friday, students must be prepared to remove their costumes for their Phys. Ed. classes; we encourage the children to wear their school clothes under their costumes. Please no makeup and/or masks. We would also like to give a gentle reminder to avoid costumes that may be scary for younger children.
